[edit]A vote will occur in November of 2002. - does anyone know the result of this vote? Will Santa Barbara county be divided? -- Zoe
- As far as I can tell from scouring election results pages, there was no such vote. Here's an article with some background from July; apparently there was some sort of recall vote for one of the county supervisors, potentially tipping the political balance in favor of the north (the measure appears to have narrowly failed); meanwhile there's a movement afoot to place a secession measure on the 2004 ballot. --Brion
- Ah, thanks, Brion. There was an article earlier in the year that the vote would be on this year's ballot. I guess they didn't get enough signatures. -- Zoe
Wine events link
[edit]I have restored the "localwineevents.com" link. I might ordinarily have removed it as a spamlink, but it is specifically about part of the valley's economy/culture. What tipped in its favor was the website's listing in Wine & Spirits magazine's "Best Websites" section in its Fall 2006 Special Issue (page 16, you can look it up). --Calton | Talk 01:43, 6 August 2006 (UTC)
sbcwineries.com link
[edit]I would like to add the following external link to this page, amongst the the other Travel and Wine external links:
I feel this site has content which is on topic, relevant and useful to many readers. It lists all wineries manufacturing wine within SBC borders, regardless of membership to any particular appellation or vintner association. Complete with accurate map locations and guidance on access for the general public.
However as webmaster of sbcwineries.com I face the question of COI, so seek guidance.

External links clean up
[edit]The external links section is excessive and some of it doesn't meet wikipedia standards
Links normally to be avoided
* 4.1 Advertising and conflicts of interest (gogrape.com and sustainablevine.com)
* 4.3 Sites requiring registration (appellationamerica.com)
and sbcwineries.com ought to be removed as the maps are just google's and the site doesnt have much substance. If you want a comprehensive site for the wine country without shamelessly promoting your business use www.sbcountywines.com , which is the vinter's association. They provide the map all the wineries handout. I will change it eventually, but I'd rather talk about it first before I go removing anything. Petermhorn (talk) 06:29, 20 December 2009 (UTC)
