[edit]I would have thought the character was more inspired by Graham Taylor, much of the film is a take off of the channel 4 documentary that covered much of his tenure. If anyone has any opposition I'll change it? 163.1.141.40 22:25, 9 May 2005 (UTC)
- Well, the bleeped out rant during half time against Mexico is definitely inspired by that documentary, but on the whole I don't see a whole lot of Taylor in Mike Bassett. We probably should mention Taylor as well, but I don't think it would be right to say the majority of the film or character is based on him. Worldtraveller 22:33, 9 May 2005 (UTC)
- I'd agree, but i'd say Bassett is a mixture of both Keegan and Taylor. The similarity of Bassett's assistants to Phil Neal and Lawrie McMenemy should also probably be picked up on. Maybe a subsection entitled 'Similarities to 'An Impossible Job' should be added below the character similarities section? Just had a go at it myself but i'm unsure as to the names of the characters in the film or their actors, so i'll leave it for now.
I felt that harpsie was more of a beckham type. I mean, who can name lampards wife. the quiet guy is more like owen or gerrard.
