Proposed Merge
[edit]I propose that Piccolo be merged with List of characters in Dragon Ball. The article has no character reception or and more than 90% of the character is written in universe. Much text about the character within the plot which can be say much easier and faster at Dragon Ball series article SSJ 5 (talk) 01:10, 20 June 2009 (UTC)
- Hate to say it but I think you're only doing this because the Yamcha page (which you worked hard on) was merged. Sorry but WP:OTHERSTUFFEXISTS is really an illegitimate argument. If all Piccolo needs is reception data and some trimming, then a merger is not appropriate at this time. Lord Sesshomaru (talk • edits) 14:35, 20 June 2009 (UTC)
- I'm agreeing with Sesshomaru here; Piccolo is in good enough shape to stand on it's own. It needs a good clean up, but what article doesn't? Reception info is hard to get, Trunks (Dragon Ball) is missing it too, but it's enough to condemn the article for.--Koji† 16:39, 20 June 2009 (UTC)
- I think I made some good arguments. You can accept them or reject them. Arguments have nothing to do with Yamcha article, although that was the reason for the nomination (it is legit anywayz, because the page is not satisfying). The article is in terrible shape, and cleanup was requested (by me, on DB project) a few months ago, but no one responded. Thus, I think that the article would be a good candidate for a merge. If anyone can find verifiable reception info, please do so. SSJ 5 (talk) 17:15, 20 June 2009 (UTC)
Started working in the reception from the article.Tintor2 (talk) 21:51, 21 June 2009 (UTC)
- Much better. SSJ 5 (talk) 03:29, 22 June 2009 (UTC)
Piccolo Jr.
[edit]
I think he should be called Piccolo Jr. forever. Piccolo Jr. is not his full name. He doesn't have a last name. He never had a last name. He's just Piccolo Jr. the fifth and final nephew of Kami, the fifth and final son of King Piccolo, and the fourth and final brother of Cymbal, Drum, Piano, and Tambourine. He's not King Piccolo reincarnated, because first, he can't have his own child be his reincarnation. That's stupid. Cymbal, Drum, Piano, and Tambourine would then call him dad and father, which he's not. And second, reincarnations always have their past self's same facial structure, stature, and voice. Piccolo Jr. doesn't. Kami and his evil twin brother King Piccolo were voiced by Takeshi Aono in the Japanese Dub, while Toshio Furukawa voices Piccolo Jr. in the Japanese Dub. And it's the Namekian as one of Piccolo Jr.'s nicknames. You can only say Namek for the name of the planets Namek and New Namek. And you can only say Namekian for Powered-Up Namekian that Lord Slug and Piccolo Jr. are, because they're very strong, the name of the form that looks like a Super Saiyan, but with purple aura and purple eyes, as in purple pupils known as Super Namekian that I made up in my "Dragon Ball" series reboot of Piccolo Jr. being the main hero, who has Goku's goofy, happy pure-hearted personality in my story and drawings of Piccolo Jr. as a Super Namekian, the name of the language known as Namekian language, the name of the people of the planet known as Namekians, the nickname "The Namekian" Piccolo Jr. calls himself to hide his true identity after fusing with his uncle Kami, and the Potara item from the "Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi" series known as Namekian Power. Eh, Eh. Weighted Namekian shoes he wears. Not brown light-weight footwear or shoes. Weighted Namekian shoes. They're weighted. Weighted Namekian shoes that he never wants to take off. He’s keeping it a secret that they’re not weighted and never wants to take them off during a fight and have his bare feet shown, because it would embarrass him if he took them off. So please, change his biography back to way it was I had written it? --71.239.23.70 (talk) 13:51, 19 November 2009 (UTC)
He's not King Piccolo reincarnated. It's not fanfic. It's real. His name's Piccolo Jr. It will always be Piccolo Jr. forever. Stop calling him that I don't mean to say this "fucking" fake name. His name's Piccolo Jr. It will always be Piccolo Jr. forever. That's his real and right name. Please, call him Piccolo Jr.? It would make me happy if you call him Piccolo Jr. Reincarnations are always portrayed by the same actor and actress who portrayed their past selves. Reincarnations always have their past self's same facial structure, stature, and voice. Kami and his evil twin brother King Piccolo were voiced by Takeshi Aono in the Japanese Dub, while Toshio Furukawa voices Piccolo Jr. in the Japanese Dub. --71.239.23.70 (talk) 15:18, 19 November 2009 (UTC)
He's not King Piccolo reincarnated. His name's Piccolo Jr. Piccolo Jr. is not a nickname. It's his real name. And stop saying Namek. it's the Namekian as one of Piccolo Jr.'s nicknames. You can only say Namek for the name of the planets Namek and New Namek. And you can only say Namekian for Powered-Up Namekian that Lord Slug and Piccolo Jr. are, because they're very strong, the name of the language known as Namekian language, the name of the people of the planet known as Namekians, the nickname "The Namekian" Piccolo Jr. calls himself to hide his true identity after fusing with his uncle Kami, and the Potara item from the "Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi" series known as Namekian Power. And there's no such thing as a nameless Namekian. That's Kami. His name was always Kami. Kami was always named Kami when he was born. He's just Piccolo Jr. the fifth and final nephew of Kami, the fifth and final son of King Piccolo, and the fourth and final brother of Cymbal, Drum, Piano, and Tambourine. --71.239.23.70 (talk) 15:37, 19 November 2009 (UTC)
No, they're not. Look at him. He doesn't look like King Piccolo. He doesn't have the cheek bones and pointy nose. He's not even tall. Reincarnations always have their past self's same facial structure, stature, and voice. --71.239.23.70 (talk) 15:49, 19 November 2009 (UTC)
I know who Akira Toriyama is. I'm not gonna deal with it. He's not King Piccolo reincarnated. He doesn't have the cheek bones and pointy nose. He's not even tall. Reincarnations always have their past self's same facial structure, stature, and voice. Stop calling him that fake name. It's Piccolo Jr. That's it. He's just Piccolo Jr. the fifth and final nephew of Kami, the fifth and final son of King Piccolo, and the fourth and final brother of Cymbal, Drum, Piano, and Tambourine. --71.239.23.70 (talk) 16:03, 19 November 2009 (UTC)
No, I still like the "Dragon Ball" series. Just stop calling him that fake name. It's Piccolo Jr. He's just Piccolo Jr. the fifth and final nephew of Kami, the fifth and final son of King Piccolo, and the fourth and final brother of Cymbal, Drum, Piano, and Tambourine. Kami is his uncle. King Piccolo is his father. And Cymbal, Drum, Piano, and Tambourine are his brothers. --71.239.23.70 (talk) 17:27, 19 November 2009 (UTC)
No, his name's Piccolo Jr. King Piccolo is Kami's evil twin brother and Piccolo Jr. is Kami's fifth and final nephew. Piccolo Jr. was never inside Kami along time ago. His father King Piccolo was, but King Piccolo is still Kami's evil twin brother. Piccolo Jr. just gets the link connection put into him by his father King Piccolo before he dies. So now if Kami or his nephew Piccolo Jr. die, the other one will die as well. Piccolo Jr. Piccolo Jr. Capital P, i, c, c, o, l, o, space, capital J, r, period. The characters from the "Dragon Ball" series have to call him Piccolo Jr., because they know he's King Piccolo's fifth and final son. He's being called Piccolo Jr. forever and you'll like it. --71.239.23.70 (talk) 20:43, 19 November 2009 (UTC)
I'm not harassing other editors. Favonian told me to control my temper and I promised him. So please, change Piccolo Jr.'s biography back to the way it was I had written it? Please? --71.239.23.70 (talk) 21:01, 19 November 2009 (UTC)
It's not an error. I've had enough with him being called that fucking fake name Piccolo. It's Piccolo Jr. Please, it would make me happy if he's called Piccolo Jr. forever? --71.239.23.70 (talk) 21:11, 19 November 2009 (UTC)
Stop calling him that fucking fake name. --71.239.23.70 (talk) 21:21, 19 November 2009 (UTC)
Never. And I'm not selfish. I'm a good person. I want him to be called Piccolo Jr. forever. It's not fair. --71.239.23.70 (talk) 21:25, 19 November 2009 (UTC)
But his name's Piccolo Jr. I'm not selfish. --71.239.23.70 (talk) 21:30, 19 November 2009 (UTC)
Piccolo Jr.'s not his father King Piccolo reincarnated for the last time. Look at him. He doesn't look like King Piccolo. He doesn't have the cheek bones and pointy nose. He's not even tall. He's not King Piccolo reincarnated, because first, he can't have his own child be his reincarnation. That's stupid. Cymbal, Drum, Piano, and Tambourine would then call him dad and father, which he's not. Second, reincarnations always have their past self's same facial structure, stature, and voice. Piccolo Jr. doesn't. And third, reincarnations are always portrayed by the same actor and actress who portrayed their past selves. Kami and his evil twin brother King Piccolo were voiced by Takeshi Aono in the Japanese Dub, while Toshio Furukawa voices Piccolo Jr. in the Japanese Dub. He's the fifth and final nephew of Kami, the fifth and final son of King Piccolo, and the fourth and final brother of Cymbal, Drum, Piano, and Tambourine. Kami is his uncle. King Piccolo is his father. And Cymbal, Drum, Piano, and Tambourine are his brothers. King Piccolo and Piccolo Jr. are two different characters. --75.22.138.39 (talk) 00:20, 20 November 2009 (UTC)
It's not irrelevant. --75.22.138.39 (talk) 00:48, 20 November 2009 (UTC)
No, he's not King Piccolo reincarnated. What did I tell you? It's Piccolo Jr. Piccolo Jr. is not his full name or nickname. He doesn't have a last name. He never had a last name. The only nicknames he has are Ma Junior and the Namekian. God dammit. Listen to this again on this sentence in bold about reincarnations. Reincarnations are always described to be like that and are always like that. Kami and his evil twin brother King Piccolo were voiced by Takeshi Aono in the Japanese Dub, while Toshio Furukawa voices Piccolo Jr. in the Japanese Dub. Now do you get it. He never refers to himself as King Piccolo, because he's not him. He's a different person. He always says my dad and my father and that's it. Piccolo Jr.'s the fifth and final nephew of Kami, the fifth and final son of King Piccolo, and the fourth and final brother of Cymbal, Drum, Piano, and Tambourine. Kami is his uncle. King Piccolo is his father. And Cymbal, Drum, Piano, and Tambourine are his brothers. King Piccolo and Piccolo Jr. are two different characters. Enough of this now and leave me alone on this. --71.239.23.70 (talk) 15:34, 20 November 2009 (UTC)
But that's what reincarnations are always like. They appear the same way as their past selves were. Same facial structure, stature, and voice. King Piccolo even says this line before he dies. "Good luck my son. Get revenge on my demise. Destroy all of my enemies." I'm not an idiot, gay, selfish, and stupid. I'm not harassing you guys. I'm a good person. I want him to be called Piccolo Jr. I want him to be called Piccolo Jr. I want him to be called Piccolo Jr. I WANT HIM TO BE CALLED PICCOLO JR.!!!! crying Waahhh! WAHH!! --71.239.23.70 (talk) 16:22, 20 November 2009 (UTC)

Fictional Demons
[edit]Since piccolo was never technically a demon (he was only believed to be one) does he really belong in the Fictional Demons category? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.134.68.102 (talk) 19:57, 18 June 2010 (UTC)
- The article relates his origin to that nature. Toriyama even said he initially made him a demon. Lord Sesshomaru (talk • edits) 08:02, 19 June 2010 (UTC)
yes but he didn't turn out to be a demon Goku isn't listed under a fictional humans category even though he was first thought to be human —Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.134.68.102 (talk) 04:13, 23 June 2010 (UTC)
- I can see where you're going with this, and I'm telling you that he can be classified as such. Do keep in mind that we're dealing with a fictional character here, not an actual person. And must I point out again that we have references citing this concept? Go ahead and categorize Goku as a fictional human (given there's a reliable citation for that). There's no point in talking about this anymore. Folks browsing through a category may expect to come across articles which support the inclusion of that category. Finally, it should be noted that Piccolo and Vegeta are categorized as fictional supervillains because they have become distinctive with these roles (and just because Vegeta is no longer a fictional mercenary doesn't mean we avoid categorization either). Lord Sesshomaru (talk • edits) 02:52, 24 June 2010 (UTC)
Vegeta is classified as a villain because he WAS a villain Piccolo was NEVER a demon and listing him under that category makes no sense. Most people browsing that category are not looking for characters once thought to be demons. If you can find enough characters in fiction that were once thought to be demons I suggest you create such a category. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.134.84.84 (talk) 03:05, 30 June 2010 (UTC)
- Whatever, please cite a reliable citation supporting your "findings". I'm through with this, however, I'd think twice about taking measures into your own hands if I were you... Lord Sesshomaru (talk • edits) 00:27, 2 July 2010 (UTC)
- Actually, Sesshomaru, the burden of proof is up to you. The anon is correct in that Piccolo is not a demon, and nothing in the article mentions Toriyama's intentions. The only "references" you have for the demon origins is the manga itself, which is in-universe and later contradicts intself. Ωphois 04:27, 14 July 2010 (UTC)
- And judging by a recent attempt to remove it that you reverted, and this anon's argument, it appears that the current consensus is to remove it. Ωphois 04:38, 14 July 2010 (UTC)
- I am not sure exactly what Wikipedia's policies are regarding these things, but I think that Piccolo could be considered a fictional demon for two reasons: one is that he is introduced as such; the second is that at least the senior Piccolo was a member of the Makyo, a clan of demons. This may not be explicitly dealt with in the manga, but it is dealt with in the anime, in the Garlic, Jr. story arc, though that may not be seen as canon anymore. To what extent extent this makes this incarnation of Piccolo a 'fictional demon' is up for debate, but I think that a case exists, and the issue should not be shrugged off simply because he is later revealed to be a Namekian. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 208.96.148.51 (talk) 16:18, 25 August 2012 (UTC)

Gender
[edit]A while ago I stated in the infobox that Piccolo was male, but three of my edits were undone and the editor who undid my edits said "Namekians don't have genders unless it was retconned". There are three reasons why I added Piccolo's gender:
- Piccolo is often referred to as "he" inbetween sentences.
- Piccolo has always been voiced by a male in the anime (Toshio Furukawa and Christopher Sabat).
- If i'm correct, there are no female Namekians, which means they are all male. DBZFan30 (talk) 15:29, 25 February 2017 (UTC)

Difference between gender and biological sex
[edit]I know this is a controversial topic but the infobox should either list Piccolo's gender as male or simply remove that heading to prevent confusion. It's true that Namekians have no biological sex but gender is different to sex as it's more of a social concept and Piccolo clearly identifies himself with male traits and is referred to with male pronouns by himself and others, which means his gender should technically be listed as male. Move?
[edit]The character's full name is Piccolo Daimaoh Jr. at least what I remember considering how he is introduced. It will allow us to get rid of the ambiguation which is often recommended by the manual of style. What do you think? Tintor2 (talk) 22:15, 15 July 2022 (UTC)
The problem is that Piccolo Daimaoh Jr. isn’t the character’s common name either. In fact, I can’t really think of any secondary sources that specifically spell out his full title since his introduction, Toriyama and co. themselves rarely use the shortened Piccolo Jr. even, so it’s a really obscure name compared to say, Son Gohan or Son Goku. I guess it’s unfortunate that compared to other DB characters, the character’s name is a pedestrian word like Trunks (Dragon Ball) or Cell (Dragon Ball), but it is what it is. Haleth (talk) 11:01, 16 July 2022 (UTC)
- I see. In the movie he is fully called Piccolo Daimaoh but Piccolo answers he is now just Piccolo.Tintor2 (talk) 14:31, 10 December 2022 (UTC)
