[edit]Is there ANY relation intended (including that of mere namesake) between Helen Fielding's Bridget Jones, and Henry Fielding's Tom Jones? --FOo 22:16 25 Jul 2003 (UTC)

[edit]Use of term Singleton in this article is confusing, as the book itself creates the term, and it is not defined here. Additionally, this should probably be split into Bridget Jones's Diary (movie) and Bridget Jones's Diary for consistency with the Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason (movie) page. - Bridget Jones's Diary → Bridget Jones's Diary (novel)
- Bridget Jones's Diary (film) → Bridget Jones's Diary
- Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason → Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason (novel)
- Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason (film) → Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason
– The article about the original Bridget Jones's Diary film gets about four times as many pageviews as the article about the original Diary novel, and both were of a similar era (so this is not an issue of disambiguating a film based on some classic work of literature that has arguably greater long-term significance – at least not unless we consider Pride and Prejudice, and that is naturally disambiguated already). I just fixed incorrect incoming links from about 15 other articles, as it has been mistakenly assumed that the article at the base name is about the film. There are probably more such incorrect incoming links. Many people probably don't even know there was a novel at all, but are aware of the film. The situation is even more skewed for the sequel, with a page view ratio of about 9:1 in favour of the film. (Both films also have similarly named soundtrack albums, but that does not seem especially important for purposes of this discussion.) — BarrelProof (talk) 22:58, 7 June 2021 (UTC)

@BarrelProof: moves done, what's left is to fix all the links to Bridget Jones's Diary and Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason which are intended for the novel but now link to the film. I may not get around to finishing all of those today. Lennart97 (talk) 08:23, 15 June 2021 (UTC)
