Article issues
[edit]Not sure if anyone else is watchlisting this, but much of this article was apparently written by someone not familiar with the English language (maybe someone from Korea?). I'm going to do the best I can with it. If anyone else can lend a hand... Enigma message 07:02, 30 May 2008 (UTC)
- I also commented out a sentence about him being the 17th to do something. My best guess is it meant to say 17th Asian? Otherwise, I have no idea what it might mean. Enigma message 07:09, 30 May 2008 (UTC)
He was the 16th and 17th player (along with Darren Dreifort in the MLB history to go straight into the Major League without any minor league or other professional baseball experience. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.112.79.130 (talk) 05:39, 30 June 2008 (UTC)
Gongju or Kong Ju?
[edit]The birthplace for Park here says Gongju, but in MLB.com, it says Kong Ju. Which is it?? Mydoctor93 (talk) 04:01, 2 October 2008 (UTC)
- The article Gongju says it is also spelt Kongju. —Borgardetalk 05:02, 2 October 2008 (UTC)
2009 season
[edit]We have sections for specific seasons because it organizes the article. The vast majority of articles about other players have information on their top performances of the year. Otherwise, what would there be to talk about? It would be a three paragraph article and then it would be over. We wouldn't have any featured articles on baseball players if we didn't talk about their statistics and top performances. KV5 (Talk • Phils) 11:38, 23 July 2009 (UTC)
- "The vast majority"? Come on now. I really think you should look at some other pages. Look at Hideo Nomo, who had a very similar career to Park. Speaking of featured content, look at Sandy Koufax, Mariano Rivera, Lee Smith... where are all the individual game results? The only ones I see are those that are special in a larger context - breaking a record, pitching a no-hitter, a performance in a playoff or World Series game, etc. Heck, look at the rest of this very article. None of his other seasons have any of these "top performances". A 3-inning stint in an ordinary mid-July game where nothing special happened just doesn't cut it. GreenLocust (talk) 16:10, 23 July 2009 (UTC)
- Regardless of what I say, the information will get deleted again, so I'm not going to bother trying to argue this with you. I like a spirited debate as much as the next person, but nothing I will say is going to convince you to include the info, whether I think it's important or not. I'm taking this page off my watchlist. I give up; you win. KV5 (Talk • Phils) 16:28, 23 July 2009 (UTC)
- I agree with the original post here. I just got here after reading Nolan Ryan which has a similar layout. Perhaps it is simply those of us who follow baseball who prefer this design? --DizFreak talk Contributions 00:53, 17 September 2009 (UTC)
Article move
[edit]I moved this article from Chan-Ho Park back to Chan Ho Park. Baseball-Reference, ESPN, Yahoo! Sports, MLB and all of this article's sources all use the spelling without the dash, and per WP:COMMONNAME, the name most often used among English-language sources is the most appropriate. — KV5 • Talk • 23:09, 31 August 2011 (UTC)
