The institution of this province, together with other three new ones, has been discussed at a national institutional level. Official studies have been made and the matter is now being developed in its technical details by both the national and the regional governments. It seems that some of these provinces _will_ effectively be instituted, but until the precise moment when this will eventually be officially declared, many things might happen that could stop this process.
One of the obstacles is the scarce number of inhabitants, since this idea regards an area which is _already_ perhaps the less populated in Europe (or is however among the less populated). We could therefore risk to have a province for a similar number of inhabitants than the average italian City Council (Comune) has. This is in fact presumedly going to stop other proposed institutions of provinces. Olbia has indeed more chances of success (because of notable objective differences from Sassari, current capital, economical relevance), but, I repeat, it is a proposal, seriously taken into official exam, but not yet a legal act, so nothing more than a seriously considered proposal.
The writer 62.10.15.xxx seems to be very interested in adding a personal point of view, thus changing the sense of this and other articles regarding Sardinia. These changes had besides been already made a few days ago, and already reverted - I wrote he had added "nonsense", but practically he wrote false things. Another thing 62.10.15.xxx arbitrarily changes regarded language: in NO part of Sardinia Corsican language is spoken.
Thank you, Marj, for your help. - Gianfranco
Caro Gianfranco,
1. In Italia esistono province meno popolose, nella stessa Sardegna (Ogliastra, Carbonia-Iglesias, Medio Campidano e forse anche Oristano dopo lo scorporo) ma anche altrove (Enna, Isernia e Regione autonoma Valle d'Aosta, che è una regione che svolge anche le funzioni provinciali);
