Critique
[edit]First, I suspect that this article draws heavily from this single document. Some sentences are identical.
Second, I had to rephrase a misleading statement about the acknowledgment by the French government of the role of the French police. I've been to school in a public school in France, and, as far as I remember, the collaboration activity of Vichy France, including its complicity in the extermination of Jews, was well-documented.
However, the official point of view of the government was that Vichy France was a regime that took power illegally to replace the Republic, and thus that the Republic was not responsible for the actions of Vichy France. David.Monniaux 15:17, 9 Feb 2005 (UTC)
Internment camp (not "deportation camp")
[edit]The French Wikipedia article, Camp de Drancy, refers to it descriptively as "camp d'internement de Drancy". The English-language term "internment camp" is well known, in common usage, and more suitable to describe this camp than the present "deportation camp", as it was not merely a waystation for deportation of all its internees. Therefore I'm suggesting a name change for this article. -- Deborahjay 12:21, 14 July 2006 (UTC)
== The German name for this type of camp was "sammellager", literally "assembly camp". Although I appreciate the suggestion of "internment camp", the term "deportation camp" has the merit of reminding us that most of the occupants were destined for the death camps in the East. The term "sammellager" was also used to denote similar camps elsewhere in Europe. Personally I think that the best compromise would be to use sammellager throughout. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Augusta2 (talk • contribs) 15:56, 8 February 2009 (UTC)
Eduard Bloch?
[edit]There is a photo in this article that is supposedly from 1941 and supposedly shows Eduard Bloch. Is the person in the photo a different person with the same name as the one linked to (Eduard Bloch)? That article says he emigrated in 1940 to the USA, and neither it or its versions in other languages mention Drancy. --Espoo (talk) 12:17, 27 January 2016 (UTC)
