Hideo

[edit]

Hideo Noguchi did not die in the US (though he is buried there--in NYC), he died in Ghana.

--

Did Noguchi discover the syphillis cause in 1911 or 1913? There is a discrepency in the article.

"I don't understand".

[edit]

last words: "I don't understand". okay, are there no ideas what it means in detail? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 89.15.195.185 (talk) 15:34, 12 March 2007 (UTC).[reply]

  • I think it means that Dr.Noguchi, as a yellow fever researcher, might be frustrated that he failed to understand what is the nature of the disease which kill him soon. --202.28.179.3 04:50, 8 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Honors

[edit]

The following is close to being ready for incorporation in this article, but not quite yet.

This still needs a little more research. --24.199.75.242 (talk) 23:59, 1 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

There is another institute named in honor of Hideyo Noguchi in Mexico: the "Centro de Investigaciones Regionales Dr. Hideyo Noguchi" at the Universidad Autónoma de Yucatán http://www.uady.mx/directorio/cir.html--Mophicleide (talk) 19:13, 17 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Nobel Prize in Medicine

[edit]

The selection commitee for the Nobel Prize in Medicine received multiple nominations in nine different years -- in 1913, 1914, 1915, 1920, 1921, 1924, 1925, 1926, and 1927. I've not quite figured out how to incorporate this information within the body of the article:

1913

  • Alfred Lendon, Adelaide -- for "work on syphilis."[1]

1914

  • Ikutaro Hirai, Kyoto -- for "bacteriological and biological works"[2]
  • Hayazo Ito, Kyoto Imperial University -- for "work on lyssa."[3]
  • 1914 -- Matsuura - Noguchi - Work on lyssa and spirochetes.
  • 1914 -- Oppel - Noguchi - The cultivation of spirochaete pallida and its indication in paralysis and work on lyssa.

1915

1920

  • Alexis Carrel, 1912 Nobel Laureate in Medicine -- for "work on cultivation of filterable virus and cultivation of the virus of syphilis, poliomyelitis, rabies and yellow fever."[6]
  • P. Vuillemin, University of Nancy -- for "work on bacteriology and serology, especially the virus of yellow fever."[7]

1921

  • Juan de Azua, University of Madrid -- for "work on syphilis and yellow fever."[8]
  • Gideon H. Wells, University of Chicago -- for "cultivation of the spirochete of syphilis, work on the organisms of infectious jaundice, isolation of spirochetes in yellow fever, work on the complement fixation reaction and the toxicology and immunology of snake venoms."[9]

1924

  • Erich Hoffman, University of Bonn -- for "work on the existence of syphilis spirochetes in the brain in paralysis and, the biology of spirochetes and causes of yellow fever."[10]

1925

1926

1927

Any suggestions about how to handle this would be appreciated. --Tenmei (talk) 23:31, 23 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Noguchi was Christian

[edit]

Hideyo Noguchi was Christian. I have been to the museum in Japan and can confirm it. It even says so on the website used in this article to support the claim that his religion was unknown. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 174.20.72.81 (talk) 22:04, 4 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

What about his marriage?

[edit]

Granted, I'm sleepy, so I might have missed something, but besides his early life and the photo of their headstone I couldn't find mention of his wife. I did search the article for "Mary," his wife's name on the tombstone, but came up with nothing. Sorry that I can only pose the question at the moment.

Scandal at the end

[edit]

Why are we burying the human experimentation section? It should go chronologically. Andrevan@ 23:03, 27 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]
